While I am thinking about it I am quickly going to update some things I love about Maddax these days...
- I love how excited he gets when he sees Brent every morning, and I love that Brent is always such a good sport when I put Maddax in bed in the morning to wake him up. Brent and Maddax always smile so big when they see each other for the first time in the morning. It is adorable!
- I LOVE how much he LOVES books!! We read books all the time. I read to him before every nap and at bed time and throughout the day. My favorite is reading to him before bed though, I love that he is too little to know that yawning is a give a way that you are tired. Also that raking your eyes is a sign you are tired...I love that he doesn't know to hide that. Sooo cute!!
- I love how excited he gets when I read to him about rabbits, he always kicks his legs and giggles so hard.
- Before bed I always read him him his little Book of Mormon, he loves it!! His favorite page is the one that has the new star that appeared in the sky. He always grabs at it and kicks and gigg;es when he sees the star. He also loves when the angel appears to Alma the younger and he LOVES the picture of the lamanites burying their weapons...I think he just likes all the weapons.
- I love how when he rolls around he toots everytime he rolls on his stomach.
- I love how he is scooting backwards....underneath the couch...
- I love how much he loves the song head, shoulders, knees and toes.
- I love how much he loves to take off his shoes and eat them. I drive around with him and when we get to our destination he regualarily has taken off his shoes and is chomping on them.
- I love how Brent has to do drills with him every morning to try to get him to use his right hand more.
- I love how I have to distract him with toys to get him to eat....little stinker.
- I love the face he makes when I tickle his face with feathers.
- I love how funny he is when I go into to get him in the morning, how he always is lying on his tummy and he litterally pushes his head up so fast with a huge smile when he sees me.
- I love how he loves yogurt!!
-I love how hard he laughs when he is tired.
- I love how he cuddles with me right before I put him down for bed
- I love how much be loves fans.
-I love what a big flirt he is
- I love his poo face
- I love how whenever we look at pictures of him and Brent he starts whispering in this high pitched voice...Jaxson? Its pretty cute though!!
- I love how crazy he gets in his Jolly Jumper and how he shreeks when he gets a good bounce in.
-I love how much he loves eating his crackers, he always looks so proud of himself.
- love how much he STIL loves the word Boom.

Not sure what to call this post....
Maddax is hilarious in the bathtub. I put a little mirror in the tub and he always cranks his head to the side to find my reflection, instead of just looking at me. It is sooo cute and hilarious becuase he laughs so hard every time he finally sees me through the mirror. He maks me laugh so hard!!
Unfortunately this is how most of tub time is spent. WHAT IS UP WITH LITTLE BOYS?!?!?!? Seriously he doesnt' need any other toys in the bathtub, he just sits in the corner, pulling, fluffing, tugging....he even trys to do it when he has a diaper and clothes on. Obviously not all boys grow out of this unsightly ritual, BUT I didn't realize it started sooo young!!! Heaven help us all.....why boys why?!?!?

ZOO
Maddax loves looking at himself in the mirror, or things that look like him. And what looks more like him than a giant smiley face balloon....He is obsessed with it!! Best buy from the dollar store in a while....this is me hidi
ng it and him looking for it....

Here it comes!!!

YES!!! hahahhahaha he is so funny!!! He did this for about half an hour this morning...

And this is him all satisfied after a good play with his Balloon/ I think this is the first picture of him smiling where his mouth isn't WIDE open..... :)

Maddax loving being outside, even if he has to wear a silly hat! Oh I love this boy sooo much!!!
ng it and him looking for it....
Here it comes!!!
So I decided to take Maddax to the zoo this week...it was a pretty lame zoo....cool if you like looking at gophers, deer, buffalo, etc. Oh well the quality or lack thereof was irrelevant to Maddax who could have cared less about the animals and was extrememly excited as to what the zookeeper and kids were doing. I would take him out of his stroller and hold him right up to the animals and he would crank his head to see what the kdis were doing...he is such a people person.
However, Maddax and I both got a HUGE kick out of peacock mating season at the zoo. I was dying I was laughing so hard! There were about 10 male peacocks all chasing the same girl...I have never seen anything like it before, except when I was at BYU. It totally reminded me of the dating scene at BYU and made me so glad to be out of it!! None of the male peacocks were successful in my eyes and I think it all goes back to the peacock theory of dating. ...too many boys are like the male peacock, displaying all their feathers at once....leaving no mystery at all. girls like to see one feather displayed at a time to keep them interested...oh he's playing the funny feather...he is so FUNNY!! Next date....oh he is playing the SMART feather, oh he is so FUNNY and SMART!! Third date...oh he is playing the spiritual feather...oh wow he is so funny AND smart AND spiritual, I must see more feathers! That is how the male peacock should mate...by displaying one feather at a time...unfortunatley they get WAY too excited..like most hormonal returned missionaries and show everything on the first date and thus the girl is no longer interested....mating unsucessful. And as witnessed by the male peacock, no amount of shaking or crying out to the girl will help. Sorry boys! Yeah for trips to the Zoo.
Maddax making sure his top two teeth are still there...he has to check every minute or two, they are still a novelty, so much so that he also grinds them with his bottom teeth to create a fascinating noise that makes me feel like my teeth are falling out...

Highlights of this week
* We FAILED to mention one of the better things that has heppened to us two Sundays ago...after church Brent and I decided to go down to the Forks...it is where the Red River and the Assinoiboine Rivers meet up...anyways it is a really nice park with tuns of cool things to look at...anyways we are strolling along and all of sudden we see a man wearing a purple cape...random, but we are in downtown winnipeg so whatever....we keep walking next thing you know we see rainbow bikinis everywhere and guys with wings on their backs and a dude wearing a shirt that says "nobody knows I'm a lesbian". Anyways Turns out Brent and I inadvertantly attended the Gay Pride Parade and Festival....we were laughing really hard simply because it reminded us of the episode of Arrested Development when Tobias thinks he is attending a pirate convention when really it is a gay protest.....hahaha. Anyways good times...I still laugh really hard when I think about it...us in our church clothes, super conservative, attending the Gay Pride festival after church....
* Maddax is sleeping through the NIGHT!!! Oh happy day!!! We finally bit the bullet and let him cry it out...SADDEST night of my life!!! He cried for almost two hours and I was sitting downstairs on the verge of tears, pacing, swearing, and Brent was watching the NBA final game....haha. Anyways this week he has slept through the night every night and now he only cryes for like one minute before going to sleep. Best thing ever!!! I am so glad we finally did it, even though it really was the worst, I was seriously so sleep deprived it had to be done. I don't know if you notice a direct correlation between how long this blog post is and how much sleep I am now getting...I bet you all wish Maddax would stop sleeping through the night...haha.

Maddax drinking drunk....hahah he loves his water
Maddax loves playing with his little basketball, almost as much as he loves not wearing clothes...is he related to Jaxson? oh no...the other day he did have his diaper on backwards...haha

There was a suit sale....couldn't resist...

Brent and Maddax at the go carts...

He loved watching everyone drive round and round

- Maddax now has FOUR teeth, its been a long week. Me = exhausted. 2 hours of sleep a night does not a well rested Rachel equal...somehow Maddax is still the happiest little guy.
- Maddax loves when we sing little drummer boy to him. Don't even ask how we found that one out, he LOVES it though! Par-um-pum-pum

AHHHH the teeth that cause so much pain and yet he smiles through everything!!
EEk he is standing...kind of :) And he now rolls from one end of the room to the other...he is crazy!!
The highlights of this week
* Brent started P90X. him and a work buddy do it every morning....I am nervous for him, but excited at the same time. Somehow he is still walking and working so that is good :)
* I bought running shoes so I at least own something I can look at and pretend I am in shape :)
* I caved and went out and bought a cheap crib for Maddax, he is too big for his pack and play...
* I had to buy him a new car seat becuase he is too big for his other one that is supposed to last him until he is one year old....lets just say it has been an expensive week for Maddax.
* We held a blind auction in the office for the reps and it was pretty fun picking up different prizes....the prizes ranged from brittney spears tickets to black licorice cigars to a tent to hockey cards to a soccer ball to an inflatable dolphin to a thug "PEG CITY" shirt....good times. It was a lot of fun, I made vivint money for them to bid with...good times.
* NBA playoffs...need I say anymore. Brent is loving coming home to games.
* the NHL is coming back the peg...people here are out of control about it!! I am super out of the loop with hockey these days...all I know is that I am missing out becuase in game one of the play offs someone got bitten...yes bitten....apparently the dude missed the training on manly fighting and started out in the Womens league...
That is all I can think of right now...Im sure there was more, but I honestly can't think right now...sleep is always missing these days sooo thats all I got for now!

Hmmm the highlights of this week
-our car didn't get broken into, however one of our reps cars did....right outside our window. Brent chased the hooligans down a back alley, but lost them...good to know I am married to a citizen on patrol. Brent went from in undees in bed at 11 to clothed to running down the stairs to chasing natives down an alley before I even had figured out what was going on...good times
- Maddax is rolling over, unfortunately he hasn't mastered the ability to roll from his tummy to his back which now means him waking up screaming when he has rolled onto his tummy and is stuck...I wonder what goes on in that crib sometimes.
- we got an ipad!! YEAh!! I might have gotten a little excited and bought a TUN of educational apps for Maddax that he is way too young for.....opps...he'll grow into them though right? Maybe they will work for Brent....
-Unfortunately none of us were raptured and they had to take down the giant billboard professing the day of judgement right next to the largest attraction in Winnipeg, the train station casino. Im sure a lot of people spent a lot of money there pre and post rapture. However I think the biggest gamble was the guy who blew his life savings on the rapture billboard campaign.
-Allergy season has been death for Brent this year, I feel so bad for him!! His eyes are constantly burning and red and it is super sad....luckily for him it rained all weekend clearing up the pollen in the air, unfortunately with all the recent rain the GIANT mosquitos have begun to surface....they are SCARY!
- Maddax got his 6 month shots, which was a relief because they follow a different schedual here in Manitoba than they do in Alberta so the first couple of nurses I talked to weren't willing to give him his shots. I had to hunt down a nurse that used to work in Calgary and was familiar with Albertas scheudal...it all worked out good in the end and she was really good about it. She did a tun of checking to make sure he got the right shots....he didn't even cry this time which was great! And he now weighs just over 22 pounds.....ahhhhhh. I am so sore...he is a freaking tank. He has gained two pounds since we have been here. CRAZY!
- Me and Maddax went to the Royal Canadian Mint. It was actually pretty cool there!! They make the money for 78 countries there...driving up to it is awesome becuase they have a run way you drive up on lined with all of their "valued customers" flags...it was pretty impressive. The building is awesome-cool architecture and nice grounds.
- That about sums up our week I think...People are still bizarely nice here!! It is honestly weird to have people being so nice. It is nice. haha.

Things I love about Maddax....
- how he throws his head back when he laughs hard
- how he does this sneaky smile when he pees in the bathtub
- how the word Boom makes him laugh everytime
- how his favorite animal is a cow, its bizarre really. I will place a line of up toys and he will always only grab the cow.
- how happy he is and is always smiling and laughing
- how he tries to suck his thumb but gets distracted becuase he is always trying to grab things
- how he is just barely learning how to sleep with his arms out
- how much he loves girls
-how much he loves his stroller
- how much he loves looking at himself in the mirror or shiny objects
- how he will sit and just stare at his hand waving at himself
- how much he loves when I sing stupid songs to him
- how much he loves his tub, so much so he often pees in excitement at the sound of running water
- how proud he is of himself when he eats solids
- when he falls asleep in his daddys arms at church
- when he rolls over
- how he only uses his left hand to grab for things, his right hand is just there- he uses it only when he has to
- how much he smiles when we go in to get him from naps
- how much he loves turning pages of books that we try to read to him, he's kinda a speed reader
- how tickelish his tummy is
-how he squishes up his shoulders and smiles when you kiss the back of his neck
Anyways these are just a couple of the reasons we love him....he is pretty hilarious and he makes us laugh everyday. I am actually really liking Winnipeg now that I am getting used to it. People here are actually really friendly with a weird Canadian Accent......everyone is super nice aside from the person who shattered our car window with a rock the other night. Good times. Work is super busy for Brent but it is going good. Work is crazy for me cus everything takes three times as long with Maddax in tow, but its all good. Anyways that is kinda a ghetto update from us...I need to take lessons on blogging from Tanis. I'm the worst at this! :)
Sunday, May 1, 2011
Wow...we really suck but here goes a quick little update! We are finally in Winnipeg!!! YEAH!! It is such a great place-slight sarcasm....I will post some pics of our place soon. Winnipeg really isn't that bad, the Red River is unfortunately VERY VERY high and hasn't even peaked yet...kinda nervous.
Brent drove out by himeself and then me Maddax and Barb drove out the next day. It was a actually a good drive...you litterally drive STRAIGHT east across the prairies. Oh yeah, we got a new car so we have two little cars to bop around in. We bought a 2008 Mazda tribute for Maddax...haha. It is so nice to have two vehicles to bomb around in. Especially now that Brent has the car all day everyday for week. Me and Maddax can brave the streets of Winnipeg together. I dont' know if anyone has ever driven in Winnipeg, BUT they don't believe in painting dotted lines on the roads so it is always kinda a mystery how many lanes there are. I have been honked at at least 50 times and its not cus I still got it.
Anyways I will try to post more soon....we still don't have internet...just tethering brents cell right now...wawa.
